In the spring of 2013 we spent a month in Sicily. Beginning and ending in Palermo, we completed a counterclockwise tour, intermixing visits to its many famous highlights with excursions into the quiet, beautiful interior. A month might sound like a lot for a fairly small area, but it wasn’t. There is so much to see in Sicily and there is so much diversity that we could easily have spent longer. We were there in late April and most of May, which was a spectacular time for a visit, especially by bicycle. The flower displays were wonderful, weather was generally quite comfortable, and crowds were generally modest. We loved everything about this tour, and whole heartedly recommend Sicily as a bike touring destination.
